This is a book series about the war of the Ebulons,
The Ebulons are a future people who have colonized two planets orbiting the SAME star.
One planet, Planet-N is closer to their communal sun. The other planet, Planet-Z, is farther out in the orbit. Much like Earth and Mars of our solar system.
The peoples, called "Zebulons" and "Nebulons" are level one civilizations in a race to level two.
One, the Zebulons, are closer than the other.
Both peoples harness the energy of their star/sun with phase-change materials bound in Dyson Rings, which form a Dyson Sphere, which encompasses entirely their sun.
The Dyson Rings are made of "Hybrid-Graphite" mega-satellites which hold the phase-change material in place as it aborbs the energy emitted by the star. The phase-change material is a lot like our eutectic salts on our present day earth.
The trick, and problem, between the two peoples is the Hybrid-Graphite which the Dyson Rings are made of. You see, the Zebulons landed on a planet which is much richer in Carbon and Graphite deposits. They have also invented a method of extruding this new hypermaterial into a megastructure that can actually be built around a star.
This technology is the key for a level one civilization to make it to level two, and the Nebulons believe that the Zebulons are much farther than they ... and they fear, they will be left behind...
